BUDGET HEARING – VILLAGE OF NORTHVILLE

The Village Board conducted a budget hearing on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, commencing at 6:30 PM via Zoom.
Present: John Spaeth, Mayor
Sue Eckert, Trustee
Steve Collins, Trustee
John Markiewicz, Trustee
Sue Sedon, Trustee
Treasurer: Nathanial Matthews
Recording Secretary: Wendy Reu, Clerk
Mayor Spaeth opened the Budget Hearing at 6:31 p.m.
Public Attendance via Zoom: Justin Frederick, Dan Reidell, Ken Barron, Michael Kratky
Mayor Spaeth indicated that the Budget before the Board was what was reviewed by them at the Budget Workshop on March 9, 2020. He gave a brief overview for the members of the public that were in attendance via Zoom. No questions regarding the tentative budget were offered from the public.
At 6:57 p.m., Mayor Spaeth closed the public access portion of the Budget Hearing on a motion by Trustee Eckert, seconded by Trustee Markiewicz, and carried by voice vote as follows:
AYE: Mayor Spaeth, Trustee Eckert, Trustee Collins, Trustee Markiewicz, Trustee Sedon
NAY: 0
ABSTAIN: 0
Mayor Spaeth proffered the tentative budget, also labeled “Preliminary Budget”. The following resolution was proposed by Mayor Spaeth who urged its adoption.
RESOLUTION #3 of 2020
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JUNE 1, 2020 AND ENDING MAY 31, 2021, MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTHVILLE GOVERNMENT, AND ESTABLISHING THE RATES OF COMPENSATION FOR OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES FOR SUCH PERIOD |
WHEREAS this board has met at the time and place specified in the notice of public hearing on the preliminary budget and heard all person desiring to be heard thereon;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the preliminary budget as proffered and as hereinafter set forth is hereby adopted and that the several amounts stated in the column titled “Adopted” in Schedules A1, F1, and J1 be and hereby are appropriated for the objects and purposes specified and the salaries and wages stated in Schedule 5 of such budget shall be and are hereby fixed at the amounts shown there, effective June 1, 2020.
Motions to pass the budget as proposed in the Tentative Budget was made by Trustee Collins, seconded by Trustee Sedon and passed by roll call vote as follows.
AYE: Mayor Spaeth, Trustee Eckert, Trustee Collins, Trustee Markiewicz, Trustee Sedon
NAY: 0
ABSTAIN: 0
ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn was made at 7:00 p.m. by Trustee Collins, seconded by Trustee Eckert, and passed by voice vote, no one dissenting.
