BUDGET HEARING – VILLAGE OF NORTHVILLE
Tuesday, April 18, 2017
The Village Board conducted a budget hearing on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 commencing at 6:30 PM at the village offices.
Present: John Spaeth, Mayor
Debra Ellsworth, Trustee
Matthew Ginter, Trustee
John Markiewicz, Trustee
Sue Sedon, Trustee
Treasurer: Nathanial Matthews
Recording Secretary: Wendy Reu, Clerk
Mayor Spaeth opened the Budget Hearing at 6:30 p.m.
No one in attendance expressed a desire to address the Board regarding the Budget. Mayor Spaeth stated he would keep the Hearing open through the Organizational and Regular meetings in case the public had questions.
At 9:00 p.m., Mayor Spaeth closed the public access portion of the Budget Hearing on a motion by Trustee Sedon, seconded by Trustee Ellsworth, and carried by voice vote as follows:
AYE: Trustee Ellsworth, Trustee Ginter, Trustee Markiewicz, Trustee Sedon
NAY: 0
ABSTAIN: 0
Mayor Spaeth proffered the tentative budget, also labeled “Preliminary Budget”. The following resolution was proposed by Mayor Spaeth who urged its adoption.
RESOLUTION #7 OF 2017 ADOPTION OF BUDGET
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JUNE 1, 2017 AND ENDING MAY 31, 2018, MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTHVILLE GOVERNMENT, AND ESTABLISHING THE RATES OF COMPENSATION FOR OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES FOR SUCH PERIOD |
WHEREAS this board has met at the time and place specified in the notice of public hearing on the preliminary budget and heard all person desiring to be heard thereon;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the preliminary budget as proffered and as hereinafter set forth is hereby adopted and that the several amounts stated in the column titled “Adopted” in Schedules A1, F1, and J1 be and hereby are appropriated for the objects and purposes specified and the salaries and wages stated in Schedule 5 of such budget shall be and are herby fixed at the amounts shown there, effective June 1, 2017.
Motions to pass the budget as proposed in the Tentative Budget was made by Trustee Markiewicz, seconded by Trustee Ginter, and passed by roll call vote as follows.
AYE: Trustee Ellsworth, Trustee Ginter, Trustee Markiewicz, Trustee Sedon
NAY: 0
ABSTAIN: 0
ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn was made at 9:02 p.m. by Trustee Ginter, seconded by Trustee Ellsworth, and passed by voice vote, no one dissenting.
